In this life that we live, no matter what we are going through, we must always strive to learn what God wants to teach us. As this year comes to a close, look back on it and all the events that took place. What lessons did God have you learn? Have you applied them to your life? Have you forgotten them? Have you shared your experiences with others to encourage them and help them in their walk with God?
We are also in a month of thanksgiving. Have you given God thanks for all the sorrow and joy, the rejoicing and tears, the big things and small things? Did you do it out of necessity or from a truly grateful heart? I speak to myself when I say that we have to remember to give thanks to God for all that he does for us. Each thing that happens in our lives happens for a reason. We may think that we keep running into dead ends or that nothing is working out the way we wanted it to, but our mind a finite. We cannot see the whole picture. We don't know what is coming down the road, and something that we are going through now and learning from can very well help us with something that will take place in the future.
Let's strive to not only have a mind of thanksgiving in this season, but all year around and truly be grateful for all the ups and downs. The Bible says in Ephesians 5:20, "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." (emphasis added) We are to always give thanks and for everything, not just for what we feel was good in our lives. Let us all make a new commitment to always be grateful.
